YOU WILL NEED:

Wallpaper paste
Paints, brushes and sponges
Bowl
Balloons
Newspaper
Stands for the wet planets to dry on
String
Card or wire for Saturn’s ring
2 Command hooks for the walls
(Spray paint and glitter paint optional)

I bent the coat hanger out of shape and then used the previously hooked part to wind around itself and stick out at a right angle. I use an additional piece of craft wire to wind around the opposite side and do the same. Each of these smaller pieces sticks out and was inserted easily into opposite sides of Saturn simply by poking them through the paper mache surface. The wire ring then stays in place. PS. I made a mistake – Venus is the same size as Earth, not smaller! It is in fact known as Earth’s ‘sister planet.’ I got Mars, which is the second smallest planet, and Venus mixed up during the painting process! : )

Leave me a COMMENT below – what’s your favourite craft to do with your children? Do you have any video requests for me to try next?

ORDER:

– The Sun
– Mercury (the smallest planet)
– Venus (the hottest planet and has an opaque layer of clouds)
– Earth (the only planet NOT named after a God)
– Mars (rocky and red with a 21k high volcano called Olympus Mons)
– Jupiter (the largest planet, an icy gas giant. One day on Jupiter lasts just under 10 hours)
– Saturn (icy gas giant with rings of ice. 62 moons with Titan as the biggest)
– Uranus (ice giant with temperatures of -224 degrees C and two sets of rings)
– Neptune (the coldest planet with large storms and high winds)

I haven’t included Pluto which is considered to be one of a number of ‘dwarf planets.’
