  • they look like car batteries, or they are?

  • Want to save 75% on solar panels go to Sun Electrinics

  • why do you use golf battery's in is system? there's other great ones out there, so why? can you help me out?

  • Mr. Prepper  .  I really enjoyed your presentation. However do your self a big favor and move the inverter out side of the battery box. The lead acid battery's out gas very explosive fumes. You should never put electronics in with the batteries. I am Electrical Engineer and  safety inspector.  Dale

  • Having male ends on both ends of the 120v cords (aka suicide plugs) is DANGEROUS, otherwise, it looks like you've set up a good system.

  • Have wanted to learn about renewable energy and all the components and the correct way to install. The manufacturers just assume you already know how to install these items and calculate what you need. You can do it completely yourself   no matter if you are handy with tools or not.

  • Brother u r one of the best human being on earth may ALMIGHTY God bless you and increase your knowledge, that u benefit a lot of people. And I pray for you long life to continue to do good things on earth. Thank you so much. And I would like to get connecte with you, with some very project. That can benefit both of us. Please let me know how I can get touch of u. Thank u.

  • it must be very difficult to maintain that battery bank with those panels and charging scheme .. if its seldom discharged i could see it working – for awhile anyway .. your '30 year' estimate on battery life is way off, my guess is with the panel/charger setup you got there those batts are already dead or close to it ..

  • 2:40 Yup that's normal. I've noticed Home Depot is fairly expensive compared to smaller businesses.

  • You bought all this and only plan to use it in case of things. You don't use it daily to keep your bills down? You're just making hydrogen and wasting your time. The amount you'd save on energy you could keep buying batteries instead of waiting till those come up on burn out.

  • I am trying to use solar power rather then power supply. Please i need some simple wiring diagram for solar panels power to supply my whole house. Any one please help.

  • Very altruistic and Informative. Thank you

  • If your without Commercial Power and you do what your saying ….. you WILL * KILL ** the guy from the power company that's working on the LINE next door or across the street. Where do you thing that power path is going that your NOT using????? Your trying to use a Off grid system, tied into a On Grid system…. WOW PEOPLE BEWARE OF BACKYARD SOLAR PRO's.

  • And now the panels are less than $.27 per watt when bought by pallet

  • Since you have this installed this setup, have you used the solar system and how much have you save compare to not having solar at all? I've been thinking about doing something similar to save some electricity. Thanks for sharing!

  • Nice but might I suggest is that you move your inverter away from the battery bank
otherwise it will fail prematurely due to corrosion from battery outgassing and is also a fire risk too

  • I am just learning now on how to build an off the grid system

  • can you list the part for your system . i only need half of your system to provide my shed

  • Hello my friend, I'd like to know do you have a design on how you built your solar panel stands?? I just purchased 20 panels that are 320w each

  • This is fantastic. Meanwhile, 299 people working for the oil and gas industry have down voted.

  • Great video. I'll be sending people to this link!

  • You talk about emp damaging your charge controllers but fail to realize your solar panels will be destroyed in an EMP attack. They do not make EMP proof Solar Panels.

  • very usefull thank you

  • Can you say redundant….god, you repeat yourself far to much then you treat your listeners to 5th grade level conversation….try again….

  • dude. thank you so much for your time.

  • LDS Prepper, are the fuses 35 watt or 35 amp fused. Thanks for the video, very well done

  • Nice work you doing. I have few questions

    (1) I used a 12 AWG cable for connecting my solar pannel to my charge controller?
Can I use that same 12 AWG cable for connecting my charge controller to my 200AH battery?

    (2) what size circuit breaker in amps can I use on the positive side between my battery (200AH) and my inverter (1500 watt pure sine wave)

  • Thank you very much I have been thinking about going solar this will give me a good idea of what I am getting into.

  • I am a 27 year licensed electrician and the wiring, design and installation violate just about every electric code there is for PV systems. This guy has the concept but had no clue on how to properly install a safe system. Electricity is not a hobby so have a professional do the work so you do not burn or get seriously hurt, possibly die.

  • Faraday cages don't work my bloke tests them all that have been on the net and I'm getting pissed at him for constantly EMPing my mobile phones his excuse is u us ur phone to much but he does always buy me a new phone but people have to stop coming up with these faraday cages ideas they don't work over 30 phones is proof enough for me I've gone back to diary because he keeps murdering my phones he has shut down the whole house everything broke and he said a real EMP would be about 70.000 plus times more powerful than the tesler thingy he has made even blacked out the street and caused the neighbors bother with their electricals suprised he is not in jail or killed buy the nieghbors but he has proved his point as far as I'm concerned so in looking up these solar systems things coz I'm leaving his ass

  • I like the video. But would you not be able to be repaid by having this run your house a few days at a time? And the savings could pay for you rto have another set of electronics for your Faraday cage.

  • I'm curious if you switched your power over to the "time of day" that your local power company offers? I'm considering it too, but not sure if it works with a net meter

  • EMP. Only person I've ever heard prepare for that with an F-gage … that's pretty dope, dude.

  • First, thank you for the concise explanation of your system. How are the batteries working out for you?

I see a lot–a LOT–of fuses in these solar panel systems. I am curious to know what the advantage of fuses are compared to breakers in a solar system. You can get 20 to 200 amp breakers pretty cheap and a small box to connect them through.

Are the fuses a cost saving measure on the front end or is there something I'm missing, like fuses are required for code? Is is actually easier to deal with popping fuses with this setup than with tripping breakers for some reason? I always understood that fuses were better for cars because they were small and compact but that for a house electrical system a breaker would always be preferred because you can simply trip it on and off.

  • Wondering why you chose 24v rather than the common 12v?

  • Good way to go – golf cart batteries are pretty economical, used them before. Just finished a new solar install here which is a real upgrade taking advantage of solar incentives. Here we went with the Fork lift batteries which I highly recommend – they can really handle the charge/discharge cycles and had the lowest cost per kW. Just put up the 2nd video in the Relentless Homestead Solar Power "Star-Lite Wars" series – this one shows the battery box build.
Nice video as you hit an number of points to those considering a small system – everyone should be looking at some kind of solar power – it is so SWEET!

  • You want some good surplus equipment – go to a local amateur radio swap meet (aka a HamFest). You can probably find any wire you need there, plus some of the other things in his list.

BTW, solar panels are MUCH cheaper now than listed in his spreadsheet.

  • If your solar panels are connected to your charge controllers, then any impulse that hits the wiring that enters that system (from the solar panels) will also fry those charge controllers. The only way a faraday cage works is if no wires leave that faraday cage.

  • Thank you for your generous sharing.

  • Get a free month of Solar Energy with Solar City!

  • How many watts should I need if I will use a 3/4 hp air condition unit

  • I made it, learned on inplix website. great solutions I think.

  • how much can you power with this?

  • These batteries will last 10 years +/- depending how they are treated. A $95 "battery saver" WILL NOT extend their life 3x to 30 years. The pulse from these units simply gets absorbed by a battery bank of this size and has little to no effect. Don't waste your money people.
    Good video otherwise 👍

  • very good video thank you
